Evolution of Devotion: Joyce’s LAY MADONNAS
A new religion is emerging in our times. A religion made of images and appearances mediated by social media. A religion that demands worship and blind faith in the image transmitted by its new priestesses: the influencers.
It is in this context that, through my work, I transform the female figure into the LAY MADONNA of the 21st century, along with saints and angels, reinterpreting the subjects of sacred art in a pop art style.
Digital graphic interventions on inspired portraits, in a parallel transfiguration of reality, just as the digital realm has allowed the establishment of new beliefs and their sacred prophecies.
Figures transfigured into ever more relevant pagan ecstasies. A realization that anyone, unknown to most, can shine with light to be followed and adored in the trends of the near future.
The choice of the printing technique on glossy aluminum is itself part of the artwork; the modern icon must dazzle, shine, and blind.
All this, until the discovery of the next Lay Madonna, who will draw to herself the light and the gazes of everyone, along with the saints and angels reinterpreted in this new vision of sacred art in a pop art style.
Evoluzione della devozione: le MADONNE LAICHE di Joyce
Una nuova religione si afferma ai nostri giorni. Una religione fatta di immagini e apparenze mediate dai social. Una religione che esige adorazione e cieca fiducia nell’immagine trasmessa dalle sue nuove sacerdotesse: le influencers.
È in questo contesto che, con il mio lavoro, trasformo la figura femminile nella MADONNA LAICA del XXI secolo, insieme a santi e angeli, reinterpretando i soggetti dell’arte sacra in chiave pop art.
Interventi di grafica digitale su ritratti ispirati, in una trasfigurazione parallela della realtà, cosí come il digitale ha permesso l’affermarsi dei nuovi credo e delle loro sacre profezie.
Figure trasfigurate in estasi pagane sempre piú attuali. Una presa di coscienza che chiunque, sconosciuto ai piú, possa risplendere di luce per farsi seguire ed adorare nei trend del prossimo futuro.
La scelta della tecnica di stampa, su alluminio lucido, é essa stessa parte dell’opera, l’icona moderna deve abbagliare, risplendere, accecare.
Fino alla scoperta della prossima Madonna Laica che porterà a sé la luce e gli sguardi di tutti, insieme ai santi e agli angeli reinterpretati in questa nuova visione dell’arte sacra in stile pop art
